Big Shrimp

Big Shrimp is a high-octane progressive improvised rock quartet formed in 2024 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, blending danceable funk, exploratory rock, and fearless improvisation into a sound that's as intricate as it is infectious. Built on hook-forward songwriting shared by all four members, Jared Sage Cowen (guitar/vocals), Max Perrotti (bass/vocals), Daniel Cohen (keys/vocals), and Henry Thomas (drums/vocals), the band has quickly earned national attention — including placement on Spotify's Modern Jam Band editorial playlist and a spot on Grateful Web's "Top 12 Upcoming Jam Bands to Watch in 2026." Known for adventurous live performances that blur the line between tightly crafted compositions and spontaneous exploration, Big Shrimp has a fiercely loyal fanbase known as the Prawn Stars. With all four members contributing songs, vocals, and improvisational ideas, no two performances are alike. Four live albums have followed in under two years — The Prawno Tapes, Vol. 2 (January 2025), Live at Park City (August 2025), Vol. 3 (November 2025) and Vol. 4 (May 2026), the last of these featuring Ryan Dempsey of Twiddle. The studio era opened with the singles "Rex" (January 2026) and "Alcaworkholic" (March 2026), both previews of a debut full-length due in Fall 2026. In August 2026 the band produced its own inaugural festival, Camp Scampi, at Moe Town Music Venue in Addison, New York, headlined by Big Shrimp and Spafford with more than 30 artists across multiple stages. Thirty more dates follow through Fall 2026.
